I became very familiar with revising essays when I was in high school. I have always really enjoyed the process as well as the feedback I would receive to improve my own essay. However, we never really distinguished between the two types of editing (local and global). Whenever I edited, I find that I mark more local edits so I am really used to just looking for those. I am finding it harder to focus less on those and more on the overall picture/ structure of the paragraphs and essay as a whole.  As I have read through Roxy and Olivia’s essays, I have realized that it is more helpful to read through the entire essay and then go back and make the global edit comments. This helps because I tended to find myself suggesting for them to talk about something and then realizing that they do talk about it later on in the piece. It is going to take some getting used to and practice training my brain to look at the whole picture and skip over the little punctuation or grammatical errors. However, with that being said, I hope that with all of the practice I will get in this class, this will become more of a natural skill. I think that both kinds of edits are extremely important and helpful to the writer.
