Modules 1 & 2 Reflection

Module One:

The first module was all about testing and some strategies. Some of the information was not as new but most of it was really beneficial. I learned how to break apart a question and look further at the distractors and the key. Furthermore, I learned that multiple choice questions have one key, select all that apply have two or more keys and priority setting questions have one key, but four possible options. From now on, I will benefit from this information. It will serve me through the rest of my school career as I will likely take better notes, have the ability to try new study habits, and be a better test taker. In addition, these testing skills will help me with the NCLEX when it comes time for that. However, in the end, this information will also serve me during my nursing career as I will have more knowledge about which information is important and which is better off being left out. This will help with communication between other faculty at the hospital as well as with patients and their families.

Module Two:

The second module shared nursing concepts. Professionalism is an idea that is not new to me but important to remember and take into consideration as a nurse. There are a plethora of rules/ regulations for nursing and knowing them and obeying them is key. In addition, being aware of client education will also be good to know as a nurse. A part of our job is to teach our patients and/ or family how to take care of themselves and make sure that they understand this information before leaving the hospital. Many good points were brought up regarding people’s differences, including the variation in individual abilities. As a nurse someday, I know it will be important to have different resources available to patients so that they feel comfortable and fully understand how to care for themselves. Lastly is priority setting which is also super important in nursing. I will be able to improve patient care, as a nurse someday, by having the ability to  prioritize which patient to attend to first. This can save lives and prevent further problems.
