Preparation for Licensure- Pediatric Adaptive Assessment

Now that I have completed the Pediatric ”Nursing Care of Children” adaptive assessment, I can look back and reflect on how I did, what went well and what I could change. Personally, I enjoyed taking this exam because I am very interested in this field of study and it is something we are currently learning about so the information is fresh in my mind. Although we have not covered all the content yet for this class, either way, there are always going to be questions asked on things we have not discussed in class or in as much depth as the question is looking for. However, I try to use the process of elimination with these questions to determine the best option without fully understanding or knowing it.  I also feel I take enough time on each question.  I think this is good to look at because it shows me if I am spending enough time or rushing through questions. On this assessment, I spent an average of 1 minute and 25 seconds on each question which is about the amount of time I normally spend.

Something I could work on is being more confident in my original answer. I think this type of exam helps since I cannot go back to questions once I move onto the next. Even when I am debating between two options, I have to pick my best guess and because I cannot go back to previous questions and I know I cannot spend forever on one question. This is a trend that I have always struggled with and I even tend to see myself staying on one question for a period of time and debating between two. I plan to continue to complete practice questions everyday to help me grow in my test taking skills and critical thinking.
