Preparation for Licensure- Maternal Newborn Adaptive ATI

After completing the Maternity adaptive quiz, I was able to reflect on my performance. I enjoyed taking this exam because I am very interested in this field of study. It also helped because we were about halfway through our maternity class so I was familiar with a lot of the information. Although, no matter what, there are always questions that ask about topics that we have not discussed in class or in as much depth as the question asks about. However, when I stumble upon these questions, I try to eliminate options based on the information that I do know. I also feel I take enough time on each question. On this assessment, I spent an average of 1 minute and 35 seconds on each question. This is close to the average time people take on the board exam. I feel this is important because it shows that I take the time to thoroughly read the question and think through each answer.

Something I could work on is being more confident in my original answer. I think this type of exam where I cannot go back to questions once I move onto the next, helps with this. Even when I am debating between two options, I have to pick my best guess and because I cannot go back to previous questions, I am restricted from changing answers and second guessing myself. This is a trend that I have always struggled with and I even tend to see myself staying on one question for a period of time and debating between two. I feel that I try to make a rationale for each one as to why it is correct. I plan to continue to complete practice questions everyday to help me grow in my test taking skills and critical thinking. We can never know all the information and details about every topic which is why critical thinking is important.
