Assumptions

Before going through the required research ethics assignments, I did not know the nurses’ role in ethics, regarding evidence implementation and generation, to a great extent. I understand ethics is a huge factor in nursing and something we need to be very conscious about when caring for patients. When it comes to performing research, ethics is also very important to protect the participants. Treating all patients equally, causing no harm, being honest and truthful is just a short list of these ethical principles. As the research is being done, it is important to ensure it is being done in a way that takes these ethical principles into consideration and are applied to the participants. This ensures they are being treated correctly. Nurses are constantly learning and need to continue education throughout their career. Research is always being published and updated. It is our role as the nurse to continue learning about new protocols, or information about updated procedures and possibly changing our practice based on the findings. I am interested to learn more about how nurses play a role in this and have a better understanding of it.
