Planning the Journey

I look forward to this process of working through writing a research paper step by step. It will definitely help us become confident in each step of the process for when we have to complete the task another time independently. The people I chose to work with will definitely impact how this process goes. I made sure that my teammates were not only motivated and reliable but also easy to talk to. This is important if someone is not doing their part because I will be able to check up on them to determine why and give them a reminder about the part they need to complete. If I encounter a situation where one of the team members is not fully participating or completing their work, I will likely check up on them to see what is going on and if they need help. However, I hope to avoid that by choosing the right members and being good about communicating. As a group, we have already discussed the importance of communication and how we will achieve that. We have created a group chat to all ask questions in and remind each other of upcoming due dates for the project. In addition, we will use facetime calls and physical meet-ups to work through each step together at the same time. This will keep us all accountable, allow us to ask each other questions, help one another out and check to make sure what we are working on will flow smoothly. A barrier we might come across, that could occur with any team project, is poor communication, the inability to split up work evenly and making sure the final product reflects all your hard work and is not bogged down by one team member who does not want to put the effort in. In contrast, team projects are super beneficial as they help you practice working with others which is a great skill to have for relationship purposes, friendships and any career you end up in. Throughout our careers as nurses, we will always be working with others whether its patients and their family members, other healthcare workers or the community. Overall, this project will only benefit us, not only in the research aspect, but also in teaching us how to get over the barriers we encounter and then apply those skills later on if we encounter those same or similar barriers.
