As I was going through the appraisal and synthesis process, the findings I read about were not super shocking. I knew urinary catheters had a high rate of causing catheter associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI’s). However, it was interesting to read the evidence and studies done on the types of catheters and which are more likely to cause the CAUTI’s. Through this step in the process, we were able to determine what type of experience we were looking at. In addition, we broke down each article (dependent and independent variables, the study design, purpose, aims, sampling techniques, etc.). We also looked at the results of the study and whether or not they were significant and valid. My team and I read through each article together and evaluated the information and pulled out some facts and areas we could bring up in our final paper. We have continued to work through each assignment at least a week in advance to allow time to get feedback. We have agreed that it is more beneficial to Zoom and work through each step together rather than divide and conquer so that way we are all familiar with the information and how the process unfolds.
