Hello! My name is Bryn and I am a senior nursing student at the University of New England. I live in a small town less than an hour away from both the Biddeford and Portland campuses. I am grateful to be in the nursing program at UNE as it is known to be one of the best in Maine!
When I was younger, I was hospitalized for a week during the summer. This was the first time I needed to stay overnight in a hospital, let alone a whole week. Looking back now, I can better understand all the things the nurses and staff did to help me feel safe and comfortable. This was a scary time, as is for most children who have to be in the hospital but the nurses really did their best to change that. This inspired me to want to be a nurse, not only to care for others but to help babies, children and adults feel safe in such an unfamiliar, scary environment.
I look forward to graduating from UNE and becoming a full- time nurse. I love working with children and babies and hope to do this through working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). I have researched and spoken to others about the NICU environment and the role of a nurse caring for this patient population.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. When the weather is nice, you can find me hiking, spending time at our lake house, kayaking, watching the sunset and participating in seasonal activities such as blueberry picking, apple picking and carving pumpkins. I have two brothers and one sister and loved growing up with them and always having someone to play with. I live with my mom, dad and younger brother and our puppy, Clover.
